Jeffrey Koenig’s son, Joseph, is pursuing a Bachelor of Music Education (BME) in instrumental music education, as well as a Bachelor of Music (BM) in double bass performance at the University of Maryland, College Park. He will be performing a senior recital and graduating with his BM in the spring of 2020. He will complete his student teaching and graduating with a BME in the fall of 2020.
Upon graduation, he plans to teach band and orchestra in the Maryland Public Schools. He is a talented musician and has taught himself to play most of the string instruments; playing Mr. Hamel’s favorite, the banjo.
Joseph is a freelance musician with local orchestras and performing arts organizations. After a few years of teaching, he hopes to pursue a master’s degree in double bass performance. He is an avid outdoors man and enjoys hiking the Appalachian trails.
Joseph will be performing with UMD Symphony Orchestra on October 5th at the Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center.
