Gene worked for 18 years performing renovations and restoration work before joining Hamel in 2016. Prior to 2013 his work entailed significant restoration of buildings and commercial space for insurance companies related to damages sustained for covered losses. He worked for Unlimited Restoration, Inc., a disaster recovery specialty company, from 1998 to 2013 and from 2013 to 2016 was self-employed performing similar work.

Gene served for four years in the United States Army and after receiving his honorable discharge worked from 1993 to 1998 for Cossentino Contracting Underground Utilities Company.

Now with 28 years of experience in the construction industry, Gene has honed his management skills and has successfully managed more than $97 million in contract values in the DC-MD-VA area. His regional exposure to various agency requirements and compliance standards makes him well-versed and a true asset when it comes to the paperwork demands of Davis Bacon, Section 3, First Source hiring requirements and various Small and Minority Business Enterprise compliance efforts.
